The reorganisation of states in 1956 formed 14 states and 6 union territories in India. The states were-Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Bombay, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Madras, Mysore, Orissa, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and Jammu Kashmir. Union territories were Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Manipur, Tripura, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Laccadivi Island.
