In India, the first Tirthankara of Jainism was Rishabh Dev

or Aadinath. And his name is mentioned with 22nd tirthankara in 

‘Rig Veda’. Till the time of 23rd Tirthankara ‘Pasrvanath’

Followers of Jainism was known as ‘Nirgranthan’. Later When 

Mahavira spreaded his views, it was called ‘Jainism’
