Best Answer

A laterite soil of higher area is acidic in nature. It is a result of intense leaching due to tropical rains. In dry weather this soil becomes dry. The laterite soil is mainly found in areas of Eastern and Western Ghat, South Maharashtra, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Orissa, some districts of West Bengal and Jharkhand.
